What BGaming Plinko is
BGaming released Plinko on 28 January 2019 2, and it’s still the version most casino lobbies carry. A gold ball drops from the top of a pyramid of pegs, bounces left or right at every row, and lands in one of the pockets along the bottom. Each pocket has a multiplier, and your bet is multiplied by the pocket the ball lands in.
Two settings shape everything: the number of rows and the risk level. You can drop balls one at a time or switch to Auto and let the game run a set number of drops.
Rows and risk: what each setting changes
Rows decide how many pegs the ball meets and how many pockets there are. Eight rows gives nine pockets; 16 rows gives 17. With more rows, the ball has more chances to drift, so the edge pockets get rarer and BGaming pays more for them.
Risk keeps the board the same and changes the price tags. On Low, the edges pay modestly and the middle pockets pay close to your bet. On High, the middle pockets pay 0.2× or 0.3× and nearly all the value sits in the edges.
| Rows | Low: top pocket | Normal: top pocket | High: top pocket | Edge pocket, either side |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 5.6× | 13× | 29× | 1 in 128 |
| 12 | 10× | 33× | 170× | 1 in 2,048 |
| 16 | 16× | 110× | 1,000× | 1 in 32,768 |
The chances in the last column don’t depend on the risk level: the ball falls the same way whatever the pockets pay.
The payout tables, pocket by pocket
These are the multipliers from the edge to the centre, copied from the paytable the free demo returns 3. The board is symmetrical, so the other half mirrors them.
| Rows · risk | Edge → centre |
|---|---|
| 8 · Low | 5.6 · 2.1 · 1.1 · 1 · 0.5 |
| 8 · Normal | 13 · 3 · 1.3 · 0.7 · 0.4 |
| 8 · High | 29 · 4 · 1.5 · 0.3 · 0.2 |
| 12 · Low | 10 · 3 · 1.6 · 1.4 · 1.1 · 1 · 0.5 |
| 12 · Normal | 33 · 11 · 4 · 2 · 1.1 · 0.6 · 0.3 |
| 12 · High | 170 · 24 · 8.1 · 2 · 0.7 · 0.2 · 0.2 |
| 16 · Low | 16 · 9 · 2 · 1.4 · 1.4 · 1.2 · 1.1 · 1 · 0.5 |
| 16 · Normal | 110 · 41 · 10 · 5 · 3 · 1.5 · 1 · 0.5 · 0.3 |
| 16 · High | 1,000 · 130 · 26 · 9 · 4 · 2 · 0.2 · 0.2 · 0.2 |
All nine row counts are loaded into the simulator, where you can drop 1,000 balls on any of them and compare the result with the exact odds.
RTP: 99%, or 98.91% to 99.16%?
Both figures come from BGaming. The game page rounds to 99% 2. The rules are more precise: “The overall theoretical Return to Player (RTP) is 98.91% - 99.16% depending on the player’s chosen strategy” 1, with the numbers filled in from the game’s configuration.
I checked that range the long way. For each of the 27 tables, I multiplied every pocket’s multiplier by its exact chance and added them up. The lowest came out at 98.91% (8 and 10 rows on Normal), the highest at 99.16% (11 rows on High). So the difference between settings is a quarter of a percentage point; the risk level changes how bumpy the ride is far more than what you get back over time.
One caution: BGaming offers casinos brand-exclusive versions with “upgraded design, RTP, features, and game settings” 2. The RTP in the game’s own info screen at your casino is the one that counts.

Drop 1,000 free ballsAuto mode and the record table
In Auto mode you pick 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 750 or 1,000 drops, or run until you press Stop 3. The rules add that Auto mode and quick play can be switched off where a casino’s licence requires it 1. A fixed number of drops with a loss limit you’ve decided in advance keeps a fast game at the size you planned.
BGaming also shows a record table of recent results. It’s a history, nothing more: every drop is independent, and the next ball has the same odds whatever the last 50 did.
Checking a drop
BGaming says Plinko “runs on provably fair technology, allowing players to verify every round’s outcome through unique server and client seeds” 2. In practice, the game commits to a hidden server seed before you drop, and afterwards you can check that the seed, your client seed and the round number produce the path the ball took. Our guide to provably fair Plinko walks through what that check proves and what it doesn’t.
Plinko 2, Plinko XY and Football Plinko
BGaming has built three more games on the same idea. Plinko XY (24 March 2022) keeps the 99% RTP and the 1,000× top multiplier 5. Plinko 2 (8 January 2025) lists a 99% RTP, low volatility and a 10,000× maximum multiplier 4. Football Plinko (11 June 2025) lists the same 99% and 10,000× figures 6. They’re separate games with their own rules; everything on this page is about the original Plinko.
Where BGaming Plinko runs
BGaming sells its games to online casinos, and the casinos that accept Australians are offshore: online casinos are not licensed in Australia. Which lobbies carry BGaming Plinko, and what to check before depositing anywhere, is on our real-money page.
Pros
You choose both the rows (8 to 16) and the risk, so the same game can feel calm or wild.
Payout tables and RTP are shown in the game, and the range in the rules matches the tables to the second decimal.
Each drop comes with seeds you can check afterwards.
Free demo on the provider’s own site, no account needed.
Cons
Casinos can order a custom version with a different RTP, so the 99% on BGaming’s page isn’t guaranteed in every lobby.
BGaming doesn’t publish minimum and maximum bets in AUD: each casino sets them.
The game page nudges you to look for “the luckiest time to bet” in its stats hub; past drops don’t change the next one.
My verdict
BGaming Plinko is the version I’d point a new player to first. It’s the most flexible (nine row counts, three risk levels), its maths is published inside the game, and the numbers add up: every one of the 27 tables I checked lands between 98.91% and 99.16%, exactly the range in the rules.
The one thing to do before a real-money drop is open the game’s own info screen and read the RTP there, because a casino can run a custom version. If it shows 98.91% or higher, you’re on the standard maths. My full comparison with Spribe and Stake is on the RTP and risk levels page.
